OVERVIEW
Journal of Information and Organizational Sciences (JIOS) is an open access semi-annual international scientific peer-reviewed journal established in 1977. Journal publishes original scientific papers at the intersection of information science, organizational studies, and related fields. Publication in JIOS is without any costs/charge to authors. All processing and publishing costs are borne by the journal owner rather than by the author.
AIM AND SCOPE
The Journal of Information and Organizational Sciences (JIOS) aims to foster the advancement of interdisciplinary research at the intersection of information science, organizational studies, and related fields. The journal provides a platform for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to share high-quality, original research that contributes to the understanding, development, and application of information systems, organizational theory, and related technologies.
The scope of JIOS includes but is not limited to:
- Intelligent and Information Systems: Exploration of innovative uses of information systems in organizational contexts, including the design, development, and management of IT infrastructures, data analysis, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies like AI and blockchain. Special interest is paid to machine learning, artificial neural networks, natural language processing and text mining, soft computing, data science methods, as well as social networks analysis.
- Smart Industry with key topics such as industrial automation, Internet of Things (IoT) in manufacturing, artificial intelligence (AI)-driven decision-making, digital twins, and advanced data analytics for process optimization. Papers exploring smart supply chain management, robotics, machine learning applications in production, and the digital transformation of traditional industries are highly encouraged.
- Organizational Studies: Research on organizational behavior, management practices, decision-making processes, and the impact of digital transformation on organizational structures and workflows.
- Interdisciplinary Approaches: Studies that integrate theories and methodologies from information science, management, psychology, sociology, and related disciplines to explore complex issues within organizations.
- Human-Computer Interaction (HCI): Insights into user experience, usability, and the interaction between people and technology in organizational and educational settings.
- Learning and Knowledge Management: Research on how organizations and institutions leverage technology to enhance learning, knowledge sharing, and innovation.
- Trends in Software Engineering: To explore agile methodologies, automation through DevOps, and the integration of AI and machine learning to enhance software development, testing, and maintenance processes. Additionally, we are interested in secure software development, microservices architectures, and the adoption of cloud-native technologies to improve scalability and flexibility
- Technology in Education: Studies focused on personalized learning experiences driven by AI, adaptive learning technologies, and immersive tools such as virtual and augmented reality. In learning analytics, the emphasis is on leveraging big data and machine learning to provide real-time feedback, improve learner engagement, and inform instructional design for more effective and tailored educational outcomes.
We do not publish small-scale evaluations of specific software, systems or different techniques unless the findings demonstrate broader relevance clearly articulated in the paper. Submissions discussing software or hardware implementation should emphasise the context of use, user-system interaction, usability challenges, and evaluations of user experience, with a focus on the implications on organisation or community. Papers that only discuss computers or different devices as delivery platforms are insufficient. Detailed descriptions of implementation architecture should NOT be included in the manuscript, but can be provided via URLs.
We also encourage the submission of systematic review papers and meta-analyses that present well-defined research questions, a structured framework of analysis, and conclusions aligned with the paper's objectives. For guidance, please refer to the PRISMA guidelines.
Authors are reminded to carefully follow the author guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet the specified criteria will be returned without review.
VISIBILITY AND OPEN ACCESS
The journal follows an open access model, which maximizes the visibility of published papers.
JIOS is a fully open access journal. All content is published under a Creative Commons BY-NC-ND 4.0 license. There are no Article Processing Charges (APCs) or publication fees for authors. While authors of papers in JIOS retain the copyright to their work through the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license, readers may share and adapt the material within the papers. See our Author's Agreement for details.
FREQUENCY OF PUBLICATION
The journal follows a continuous publication model, where papers after acceptance are typeset and published in two volumes per year. The call for submissions is permanently open.
PROMOTION AND DISSEMINATION STRATEGY
The journal develops a strategy to promote and position published papers on social networks and web platforms, which contributes to increased exposure and access to the papers.
