OVERVIEW
Journal of Information and Organizational Sciences (JIOS) is an open access semi-annual international scientific peer-reviewed journal established in 1977. Journal publishes original scientific papers at the intersection of information science, organizational studies, and related fields.  Publication in JIOS is without any costs/charge to authors. All processing and publishing costs are borne by the journal owner rather than by the author.

AIMS AND SCOPE
The Journal of Information and Organizational Sciences (JIOS) aims to advance research in the field of information systems by integrating technical, organizational, and information-oriented perspectives. The journal encourages interdisciplinary research that connects computer science, management, and information science to better understand the role of digital technologies in contemporary environments.

The journal focuses on the design, development, implementation, and use of information systems, as well as their impact on organizational processes, decision-making, digital transformation, and innovation across various domains, including industry, public sector, and education.

The scope of JIOS includes, but is not limited to:

Information Systems and Digital Technologies

  • design, development, and management of information systems
  • data analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning in organizational contexts
  • cybersecurity, digital platforms, and cloud-based systems
  • natural language processing, text mining, and social network analysis

Scope clarification
The journal particularly values contributions that clearly position their research within the field of information systems and demonstrate relevance to organizational, industrial, or societal contexts.

Purely technical contributions without a clear connection to information systems application or organizational, industrial, or societal relevance are not within the primary scope of the journal.

JIOS does not publish small-scale evaluations of specific software, systems, or techniques unless the findings demonstrate broader relevance clearly articulated in the paper. Submissions discussing software or hardware implementation should emphasise the context of use, user-system interaction, usability challenges, and implications for organizations or communities. Detailed descriptions of implementation architecture should not be included in the manuscript but may be provided via external resources (e.g., URLs).

Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses
The journal particularly encourages the submission of systematic literature reviews and meta-analyses that address well-defined research questions, apply rigorous and transparent methodologies, and provide structured and meaningful contributions to the field. Authors are encouraged to follow established reporting standards, such as the PRISMA guidelines.

Authors are expected to carefully follow the journal’s submission and formatting guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet the specified criteria or fall outside the journal’s scope may be returned without review.

EDITORIAL POLICY SUMMARY
The Journal of Information and Organizational Sciences (JIOS) is committed to maintaining high standards of scholarly publishing, ensuring the quality, integrity, and transparency of all published research.

All submissions undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process involving at least two independent reviewers. Manuscripts are evaluated based on originality, scientific quality, methodological rigor, and relevance to the field of information systems in organizational, industrial, or societal contexts.

The journal adheres to internationally recognized standards of publication ethics and follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All manuscripts are screened for plagiarism prior to peer review.

JIOS supports open access publishing and does not charge authors any submission or publication fees. The journal encourages high-quality original research, as well as systematic literature reviews and meta-analyses conducted in accordance with established methodological standards such as PRISMA.

Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s scope, quality standards, or submission requirements may be returned without external review.

VISIBILITY AND OPEN ACCESS
The journal follows an open access model, which maximizes the visibility of published papers.

JIOS is a fully open access journal. All content is published under a Creative Commons BY-NC-ND 4.0 license. There are no Article Processing Charges (APCs) or publication fees for authors. While authors of papers in JIOS retain the copyright to their work through the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license, readers may share and adapt the material within the papers. See our Author's Agreement for details.

FREQUENCY OF PUBLICATION
The journal follows a continuous publication model. Articles are published online immediately after acceptance and final production in an “online first” format, with assigned DOI, volume, and page numbers, ensuring full citability upon publication.

These articles are subsequently grouped into two regular issues per year. Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year.

PROMOTION AND DISSEMINATION STRATEGY
The journal develops a strategy to promote and position published papers on social networks and web platforms, which contributes to increased exposure and access to the papers.
